The wife of the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the April election, Mrs Angela Folarin has urged well to do people to help the less privilege especially women in reducing poverty in the society.
She said it is the only means to get rid of poverty in Nigeria adding that there are plans to support women, if her husband becomes governor of the state.
Folarin who stated this yesterday while distributing food and other gift items to the residents of some areas in Ibadan, the state capital tasked politicians to desist from politics of 'do or die' .
Mrs. Folarin said she understands the plight of the less privilege in the society because she was brought up in such area and she has never neglected her people even before now.
The wife of the PDP flag bearer while distributing the items, said the welfare of the people is her top priority, noting that she has positioned herself in providing succour to the people of the state especially women and the less privilege.
She enjoined the people, especially women to demonstrate the spirit of love among themselves saying her husband will torch lives of the masses especially the less privilege if elected.
Folarin regretted the child immortality rate in Oyo state saying the PDP will give priority to youths, women and children if elected in the next month elections.
She therefore urged the people of Oyo state to support President Goodluck Jonathan and the governorship candidate, Teslim Folarin so as to take the dividend of democracy to the grassroots.
According to her: "Welfare of our people is our priority. There are packages to improve living standard of our women in the state. The rate of our child immortality rate in Oyo state is regrettable and we can't continue that way. Something must be done. If our women are well fed and a good medical care is in place, we won't have such terrible statistic as released recently."
Among the areas she visited include Iyaganku Police Barracks , Mokola Army Barracks, Oke Itunu and its environs.
One of the beneficiaries while speaking on behalf of other residents in Iyaganku, Mrs. Agaba Dickson said the gesture was amazing and surprising adding that the act of generosity was timely. She urged other people in the society to borrow a leaf from such gesture and support the poor. She therefore demanded that when Folarin emerged as the governor, she should help them to facilitate water, transformer and befitting structures to the barrack.
