The Plateau State Police Command has arrested another suspect in connection with the brutal killing of 25-year-old model, Ibrahim Mbaya, as efforts intensify to apprehend two other suspects still on the run.

Mbaya, a graduate of the University of Jos popularly known as Ibee, died on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after he was allegedly beaten by a mob, including some of his friends, over accusations of stealing a mobile phone.

The newly arrested suspect was paraded alongside three others who had earlier been taken into custody over the incident.

Speaking while parading the suspects in Jos on Tuesday, July 28, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Alfred Alabo, said the arrests were made following intelligence provided by a Good Samaritan who alerted officers that a young man had been rushed to hospital in critical condition after a brutal assault.

According to Alabo, the victim later succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the attack.

He disclosed that operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), acting on sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigations, arrested one Tisloh Joshua for his alleged involvement in the crime.

“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that, sequel to our earlier press release on the arrest of three suspects in connection with the alleged killing of one Ibrahim Mbaya, a breakthrough has been recorded with the arrest of an additional suspect linked to the incident,” the police spokesperson said.

“Following sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the Command has arrested one Tisloh Joshua for his involvement in the crime.

“The suspect is currently in police custody while investigation is ongoing. Efforts have also been intensified to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large.”

Alabo reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring that everyone connected with the killing is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He assured the family of the deceased and the people of Plateau State that justice would be pursued diligently.

The police also condemned all forms of jungle justice, urging members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspected criminal activities to the police or other relevant security agencies for proper investigation and prosecution.

The command thanked residents for their continued cooperation and encouraged them to keep providing credible, timely, and actionable information to assist security agencies in maintaining peace, security, and public safety across Plateau State.
