Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has criticised the slogan of the current administration, describing the popular "Emi Lokan" slogan as one of the most absurd political slogans he has ever heard.
The singer while speaking during a recent interview with Arise TV, questioned the government's priorities, pointing to spending on official vehicles and jets while insecurity and other pressing challenges continue to affect Nigerians.
Falz also rejected the notion that the government should be excused because of the pressure of governing, arguing that public office is a responsibility leaders willingly sought.
Referring to the campaign slogan, he said, "Emi Lokan", which translates to "It's my turn," showed that those in power actively sought the position and should therefore be prepared to deliver rather than complain about the challenges of governance.
“There’s nothing more absurd than the ‘Emi Lokan’ slogan." He said.
