Former member of Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Abel Oshevire, yesterday, said that the postponement of the polls earlier scheduled for February to March 28 and April 11 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was a big blessing to the country.

Oshevire, in a statement, said: “To me, the postponement is a big blessing because given the state of preparedness by INEC; it would have been a monumental disaster if the elections had held as scheduled.

“I commend Prof. Attahiru Jega for his honesty and courage in taking that bold decision that saved the country from being plunged into an unprecedented chaos that would have attended the conduct of the elections where many people would have been disenfranchised.

“We thank God for intervening in the situation because how would INEC have been able to train all its adhoc staff needed to conduct the elections without running into serious challenges that would have called the outcome of the entire exercise to question.”
