Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has threatened to publicly name politicians he alleges are behind the abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, if the alleged criminal activities continue.

Igboho made the claim while addressing newly inaugurated executive members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, led by Akinteye Bàbátunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan on Wednesday.

In a video circulating online and reportedly obtained by Wisdom TV, the activist said he had volunteered to assist in dislodging armed groups responsible for the attacks but was allegedly prevented from doing so by the state government.

He also denied claims that he demanded financial compensation from the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in connection with efforts to secure the release of abducted students.

According to him, he possesses knowledge of individuals allegedly sponsoring the attackers.

“I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop, I will mention all of them,” he said, alleging that some political actors were supplying arms and funding to the armed groups.

Igboho further alleged that attempts are being made to destabilise the current administration at the federal level, comparing the situation to past political tensions in the country. He also claimed that his proposed intervention was rejected by state authorities.

He stated that he was later informed that the abductors allegedly warned against any independent rescue attempt, claiming such action could endanger the lives of the victims.

The activist also referenced his proposed security initiative, “Iru Ekun Security Network,” claiming it had received federal approval but was restricted from operating by state authorities.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the abduction occurred on May 15 when armed assailants attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, including Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School. About 45 pupils were reportedly taken during the incident.

Security sources said operatives have since intensified surveillance and search operations in surrounding forest areas believed to be used as escape routes by the attackers.

A teacher at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Elizabeth Olagoke, reportedly said the attackers communicated in Yoruba, Hausa, and Pidgin English.

One of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was later reported killed in captivity, with a video allegedly showing his execution circulating on social media.

Following the incident, Igboho renewed calls for the establishment of his proposed security outfit aimed at combating criminal groups operating in forests across the South-West. He also expressed willingness to comply with an executive order by the Oyo State Government regulating private security operations in the state.

Authorities have not officially responded to the latest allegations made by the activist, while investigations into the abduction continue.
