Troops of the Nigerian Army under the 12 Brigade, 2 Division, have rescued an abducted mother and her six-month-old baby after a kidnapping incident in Egbe, in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to the report, armed men invaded a home near Solid Rock School in Ijalu, Egbe, late on 3 June 2026 and abducted five members of the same family, including the mother, her infant, and three others.

Following a distress alert, troops—working with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria—launched a pursuit operation along the attackers’ escape route. The pressure from the combined response reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon the mother and child near the Oro axis before fleeing.

The rescued victims were returned safely to their home, while security forces have continued search operations to locate the remaining abducted family members and apprehend the attackers.

The army says it remains committed to ongoing counter-kidnapping operations and is urging the public to provide timely and credible intelligence to support security efforts.
