Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the House of Representatives seat for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State.

The nightlife promoter, who also serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, contested in the party’s primary election with the aim of representing the constituency in the National Assembly.

Following the outcome of the primary, reactions have trailed the development on social media, with some users mocking his defeat and suggesting he may have underestimated the competitiveness of party politics in Nigeria.

Reacting to the backlash, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, criticised the mocking tone of some online comments. In a post on his Facebook page, he said it was unfair to ridicule the celebrity-turned-politician over his loss, adding that electoral defeat is a normal part of the democratic process and encouraged persistence in political ambition.
