"I will not stay a day longer than four years, even with a gun to my head"- Peter Obi on becoming a president

Former presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has vowed that he will serve only one term of four years if elected, stating he would not extend his tenure even if coerced.

In an interview with News Central, Obi, who has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the party's primary, reaffirmed his commitment to stability.

“I want to be a one-term president for stability. I will not stay a day longer than four years, even with a gun to my head,” he declared.

After coming third in the 2023 election under the Labour Party, Obi is maneuvering for a 2027 bid, with reports indicating a potential alliance with Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.

Obi who is currently in the NDC hoping to clinch the party's presidential ticket, said this in an interview with News Central.

Obi ran for the Presidency in 2023 under the platform of Labour party and came third in the poll. He is hoping to run for President in 2027 with Rabiu Keankwaso as his running mate.
