Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen have obtained the African Democratic Congress (ADC) expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed the development on Friday, stating that all three aspirants had completed the process of acquiring the forms.

“Yes, the three of them — Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen — have obtained the forms,” Abdullahi said.

The ADC presidential nomination form is priced at N90 million.

Hayatu-Deen formally received his form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, on Friday. Speaking shortly after, he said his aspiration was driven by the need to address Nigeria’s growing insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, and rising cost of living.

In a statement, the presidential hopeful said Nigerians were increasingly burdened by fear, declining economic opportunities, and inflationary pressures affecting basic necessities.

“Nigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford,” he said.

According to him, the 2027 general election should focus on policies that would restore national security, rebuild economic confidence, create jobs, and improve living conditions for citizens.

“This election cannot be about politics as usual. It must be about how to secure our communities, rebuild confidence in the economy, create jobs at scale, and make life more affordable for millions of Nigerians,” he added.

Hayatu-Deen further stressed that sustainable economic growth could only be achieved in a stable and secure environment.

“We cannot build prosperity in an atmosphere of fear and instability. Security is the foundation upon which every strong economy is built,” he stated.

The ADC had earlier scheduled the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms between May 6 and May 13.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and state House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.

INEC also announced that party primaries and the resolution of related disputes would hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

According to the electoral body, campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will begin on September 9, 2026.
