The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its timetable for the conduct of its 2026 primary elections, detailing key dates for the sale and submission of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, party primaries, and a special national convention.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the schedule underscores the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy, orderliness, and strict adherence to electoral guidelines.
According to the timetable, the sale of nomination forms will take place from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while completed forms are to be submitted between May 11 and May 13, 2026. Screening of aspirants is slated for May 14 and May 15, with results to be published on May 17. Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard from May 18 to May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.
The party said primary elections will commence on May 21, 2026, beginning with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats, to be conducted simultaneously at the ward level. Governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22, while the presidential primary will hold on May 25.
This will be followed by a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27, where final ratifications are expected to be made.
The ADC also announced nomination fees for aspirants seeking elective offices. The presidential form is priced at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.
As part of efforts to encourage broader participation, the party introduced concessions, offering a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The ADC urged party members, stakeholders, and aspirants to comply strictly with the outlined timetable and guidelines.
