The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, at the Oyo State Government House.
Obi arrived at the meeting accompanied by a delegation that included Igbo elders, members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), senators from the South-East, and other political associates.
Details of the discussions have not been disclosed, as the meeting is being held behind closed doors and Obi has yet to brief the press. However, political observers suggest the engagement may be linked to his future political ambitions.
The meeting comes less than 24 hours after Obi held talks with former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, as part of a series of consultations with key stakeholders across the country.
The former Anambra State governor has in recent weeks intensified engagements with political leaders nationwide, a move widely seen as part of preparations ahead of the ADC primary election.
