Dino Melaye, who serves as a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has formally urged President Bola Tinubu to provide thorough explanation regarding the reason behind the recent removal of Wale Edun from his position as the minister of finance.
Melaye’s demand follows the presidency’s announcement of a minor cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, which saw Edun replaced by Taiwo Oyedele.
The presidency was, however, mum on the reason for the sudden reshuffle.
Dino reacted by questioning whether the recent development was a result of the dismissed Minister’s failure to conceal alleged embezzled funds.
He wrote, “Mr President, when Ministers are sacked in civilised climes, the government must explain why they are sacked.
”Was the minister of Finance removed because he could not cover up the stolen 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? World Bank no dey lie. SDM”.
