BREAKING: President Tinubu approves new appointments in education sector

President Bola Tinubu has approved six key appointments in Nigeria’s education sector, according to a statement released by the Presidency on Wednesday.

The appointments cover leadership positions across major educational institutions and agencies, with a mix of new appointments and renewals aimed at strengthening governance and continuity in the sector.

Those appointed include Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO), while Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi has been retained as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the examination body.

In the technical education space, Prof. Babatunde Salako has been named Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Additionally, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje has been reappointed as the Executive Secretary of NBTE for a second and final five-year term.

In Plateau State, Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam for a five-year term.

Meanwhile, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi’s tenure as Director and Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria has been renewed for a final five-year term.

The Presidency noted that the appointments take immediate effect.
