The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) is set to host its Monthly Capacity Building Webinar on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, aimed at reinforcing ethical standards and professional integrity within the pharmaceutical sector. The event, which is scheduled to run from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, is themed "The PCN Code of Ethics and the Community Pharmacist: Balancing Professional Duty and Business Pressures." This session comes at a critical time as healthcare providers increasingly face the challenge of maintaining high clinical ethics while navigating the economic realities of the retail pharmacy business.

The National Chairman of the ACPN, Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh, will lead the discourse alongside a distinguished panel of experts. Notable speakers include Pharm Aminu Yinka FPSN, Chairman of the ACPN Law & Ethics Committee; Pharm Anthony Oyawole FPSN, CEO of Bayrod Associates; Pharm Funsho Fakulujo FPSN, Past Chairman of PSN Lagos; and Pharm Josephine Ehimen FPSN, MD/CEO of Nett Pharmacy and Chairman of Empowerment & Capacity Building. The session, moderated by Pharm Agbomma Esom-Ibe FPSN, will provide a platform for these leaders to share insights on upholding the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) standards.

In his remarks, ACPN National Chairman, Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh, stressed the need for pharmacists to sharpen their business acumen alongside their professional expertise. He noted that technical expertise alone is no longer enough to survive in the modern healthcare landscape.

“Beyond professional competence, business skills are essential for sustainability and growth, ensuring that pharmacists are better positioned to improve service delivery and optimise their operations,” he stated. He emphasized that community pharmacy rests on two pillars: healthcare delivery and business sustainability. "Without financial stability, even the best healthcare services cannot be maintained," he stated.

He further emphasized that the PCN code remains a dedicated professional guide to addressing pharmacists’ concerns and supporting initiatives that strengthen the profession. “We are committed to promoting excellence and advancing the practice of pharmacy in our regions. The National Chairman is inviting all pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, and pharmacy educators worldwide to join this webinar and key into every aspect of practice. He noted that by acting collectively, pharmacists can strengthen resilience to climate risks and promote sustainable behaviours that safeguard the health of future generations.

We trust that this webinar will drive meaningful progress, equipping community pharmacists with the knowledge and strategies needed to enhance their businesses and professional impact. Pharmacists who have yet to take advantage of this are missing a crucial opportunity,” he added.

According to the organizers, the webinar is dedicated to providing comprehensive information on the legal framework governing the practice of pharmacy in Nigeria. The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (Establishment) Act serves as the cornerstone legislation that establishes and empowers the Council to regulate pharmacy practice and business in Nigeria in all its aspects and ramifications. It outlines the Council’s responsibilities and ensures strict compliance to pharmacy laws by insisting that pharmacy professionals and stakeholders adhere to the highest standards of practice, ethics, and conduct.

The initiative is designed to equip community pharmacists with the practical tools needed to prioritize patient safety and professional duty without compromising business sustainability. This underscores the ACPN’s ongoing commitment to continuous professional development and the protection of public health. With this, the association aims to ensure that these vital ethical guidelines reach a wide audience of practitioners across the nation.
