The Economic Community of West African States has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified citizens from its member states, including Nigeria, to apply for more than 30 vacancies across its institutions.
In a notice published on its official website on Thursday, the regional bloc said the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of its sectoral programmes across key institutions.
ECOWAS urged interested candidates to submit their applications through its careers portal at https://www.ecowas.int/careers/, providing opportunities across a wide range of professional and administrative roles.
Several of the positions are based in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, including Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountant, Legal Officer, Political Adviser, Principal Officer, Registrar, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.
Other vacancies are spread across the region and beyond, including Administrative and Finance Officer in Addis Ababa, Principal Programme Officer (Sports Policy) in Liberia, Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) in Conakry, and additional legal and administrative roles in Dakar.
The organisation stated that applicants must meet specific age requirements depending on the category of the role. Candidates applying for General Services or Support positions (G1–G7) must not exceed 35 years of age, while those applying for Professional roles (P1–P7) must be 45 years or younger. Director-level applicants (D1–D2) must be no older than 50 years.
ECOWAS also encouraged female candidates to apply, noting that only shortlisted applicants would be contacted.
Applicants are required to download and complete the official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit the documents via designated email addresses before the deadline.
“All applications must include the application form, CV and a cover letter. Applications that do not contain all mandatory documents will not be considered,” the notice stated.
The application deadline is April 30, 2026.
The commission emphasised that it does not charge any fees for recruitment and warned prospective applicants to beware of fraudulent requests for payment or personal financial information.
