U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned that any country supplying military weapons to Iran would face sweeping economic consequences, including a 50 percent tariff on all goods exported to the United States.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that such tariffs would take immediate effect and apply universally, with no exemptions. “A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately,” he wrote.

In a separate statement, the president indicated that his administration is simultaneously exploring diplomatic options, noting that discussions are underway بشأن potential tariff reductions and sanctions relief with Iran.

The remarks came just hours after Trump announced a temporary ceasefire with Tehran. As part of that development, Iran agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital maritime route for global oil shipments.

The combination of economic threats and diplomatic engagement underscores a dual-track approach by Washington as tensions with Iran continue to evolve.
