President Goodluck Jonathan has lauded the people of Bayelsa State for the support given to him.
He noted that since his advent into politics in 1999 till 2011, Bayelsans had given him 100 per cent votes, just as he urged them to do it again in 2015.
Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party presidential rally at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, President Jonathan said that the PDP-led government has resolved to roll out an empowerment programme for the youth, women and consolidate on his transformation agenda for Nigerians.
He urged the people of the state to work with the government of Seriake Dickson.
Also, the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, praised the women and the youth, stressing that the Jonathan led government had empowered women and youths in the country.
The PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mua’zu said at the event that Nigerians should resist those that believe only in building prisons instead of classrooms; even as he said that the Jonathan government established nine federal universities in the country.
He called on Bayelsans and Nigerians to vote massively for President Jonathan comes February 14.
In his address, Vice President Nnamadi Sambo said under President Jonathan, Nigeria became the largest economy in Africa, and that an airport is underway in Bayelsa, just as he called on Bayelsans to ensure they collect their permanent voter card (PVC) and ensure they exercise their rights by voting for President Jonathan.
In their speech, Senate President, David Mark, Cross Rivers State governor, Liyel Imoke, and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, told the crowd of supporters that Nigeria’s future is bright with President Jonathan.
Former Bayelsa Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha captivated the crowd when he mounted the state box, unlike incumbent governor that the people detest the mentioning of his name at the rally.
Alamieyeseigha enjoined Bayelsans and Nigerians to vote for President Jonathan because he has the knowledge, visionary, and will power to re-brand the nation in line with global trend, even as he noted that the APC Presidential candidate belong to the Dark Age, noting that the only legacy in his kitty is to take Nigeria backward.
Also, Petroleum Minister, Diezani Allison Madueke enjoined Bayelsans and Nigerians to vote massively for President Jonathan, for ensuring that queue at petro station is over, establishing the local content act (NCDMB), roads, revamped rails system and 14 federal universities amongst others.
The Ijaw Youth President World-wide (IYC), Comrade Udengs Eradiri called on the PDP to protect their supporters in the northern parts of the country, as against the backdrop of the physical attack on PDP supporters.
