All is set for a major turning point in Nigeria’s agricultural sector as Oyo State hosts the Oyo Mega Poultry Workshop (OMPW) 2026, a high-impact gathering poised to reshape the country’s multi-billion naira poultry industry.

The two-day workshop, scheduled to commence on Tuesday, March 24, at the Poultry Haven in Ibadan, is jointly organized by the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) in collaboration with OMPW. It is designed to transition poultry farming from subsistence practices to a structured, sustainable, and wealth-generating enterprise.

The initiative comes at a critical time when stakeholders are intensifying efforts to improve production standards, ensure food security, and enhance the economic viability of poultry farming across Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA ahead of the event, organizers emphasized the workshop’s core objective of equipping farmers with modern knowledge and practical skills.

“We organize this workshop to sensitize, educate, and train farmers, while also imparting essential knowledge to poultry producers,” they stated.

They further highlighted the role of continuous capacity development in unlocking the sector’s full potential, noting that strategic investments in training and infrastructure could significantly empower young Nigerians to take up opportunities within the poultry value chain.

With the theme, “Sustaining the Future: Positioning Poultry Farmers for Generational Impact,” the workshop is expected to provide a forward-looking roadmap for navigating global economic pressures while reinforcing poultry farming as a vital source of affordable protein in Nigeria.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Director General of PAN, Onallo Akpan, described the workshop as a defining moment for the industry.

“This workshop is not just an event; it represents a collective movement towards strengthening our farming community. Through strategic investments and collaboration, we can transform existing challenges into opportunities,” he said.

Akpan added that the partnerships and knowledge-sharing platforms created during the workshop would drive holistic development across the poultry business value chain.

Industry leaders have consistently stressed that poultry farming must be approached as a long-term legacy venture, requiring deliberate planning and innovation to remain viable across generations. Stakeholders, farmers, and aspiring agripreneurs are therefore encouraged to participate in the workshop to gain critical insights into the evolving agricultural landscape.

The event will feature prominent industry experts, including Ayoola Oduntan and Onallo Akpan, and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Poultry Haven, Ajia Road, Elerumoke, off the New Ibadan-Ife Expressway, Egbeda.

As Nigeria continues its push toward agricultural transformation, OMPW 2026 is widely seen as a strategic platform to drive innovation, strengthen collaboration, and unlock prosperity within the poultry sector.
