The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the arrest of four suspected bandits within the vicinity of Akure Airport in Ondo State.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the suspects were apprehended following a coordinated security operation involving multiple agencies.
According to him, the arrest was carried out by FAAN’s Aviation Security personnel in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and local security outfits.
Agbebire explained that the operation was launched after authorities received a distress alert indicating that suspicious individuals had been sighted behind the airport perimeter toward the Eleyewo community.
He said security personnel immediately initiated a joint search operation in the area, which led to the arrest of the four suspects.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the public that four suspected bandits were apprehended within the vicinity of Akure Airport, Ondo State, following a coordinated security operation involving aviation and local security agencies,” the statement read.
FAAN reassured the travelling public and host communities around the airport of its continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of airport facilities and operations across the country.
