Chief Great Ogboru
The Urhobo Progress Union, the apex leadership organ of the Urhobo in Delta State, have disagreed over who to support among its members, Chief Great Ogboru , the governorship candidate of the Labour Party and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, his All Progressives Congress counterpart.
Our correspondent learnt that an executive meeting of the group degenerated into a conflict when its President General, Chief Joe Omene and some members of the group allegedly declared support for Ogboru after dissenting members led by Deputy President General of the group, Chief Tuesday Onoge, walked out of the meeting.
In a statement on Thursday, the dissenting faction said it had removed Omene as president and confirmed Onoge as the acting president of the group.
The group accused Omene of “imposing his personal will to undermine collective Urhobo interest.”
