Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has accused governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of avoiding to publicly campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan because of the president’s alleged poor performance.

He said the PDP-elected governors were concentrating on their campaigns and leaving out Jonathan out for fear that campaigning for the president could harm them politically.

Kwankwaso made the claims Wednesday night in Abuja at a fund-raising dinner for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Plateau State, Hon. Simon Lalomg.

He said: “We in APC are proud of all our candidates from the bottom to the top. Anywhere we go, we ask people to vote for our candidates and for Buhari. We don’t hide Buhari. We advertise him for all to see because we are very proud of him.

“We are not like PDP where the candidates build a house and stop when they get to the Intel level. The PDP governors ask people to vote for their candidates in the states but cannot tell people to vote for Jonathan because they know Jonathan has not performed.”

The governor, who lost the APC presidential ticket to Buhari, attributed the success of the Kwankwasiyya ideology in Kano to his sterling performance as governor.

The governor, who was represented by chairman of Doguwa Local Government Area Ali Abdul Doguwa, predicted victory for APC at the presidential and state elections.

He described Lalong as the man to beat in Plateau State, and a symbol of the change the state deserved.

Also speaking, Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, described the fundraising for Lalong by the people of Plateau State resident in Abuja as a demonstration of the candidate’s wide acceptance.

He disclosed how the thought of being the only governor elected on the platform of the now defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) had made him feel like an orphan.

“As a political orphan, we survived nine impeachment attempts. We had only four out of 20 PDP members in the state assembly. From CPC to APC, we have come a long way and now hope to have brothers in Benue, Plateau and Niger States,” declared the governor.

Al-Makura who was represented by his running mate, Mr. Silas Agara, promised to personally lead one of Lalong’s campaigns in Plateau State.

Senator Olorunibe Mamora said he received his invitation to the event late but attended nonetheless to show support for Lalong whom he described as a “man of consistency and courage.”

According to Mamora, he and the APC governorship candidate have been friends since 1999 when they served as Speakers of Lagos and Plateau assemblies respectively.

He urged the people of Plateau State to support Lalong’s governorship ambition, stressing that as governor, his former colleague would transform the state.

At the event where over N30 million was raised was a former deputy governor of Plateau State Pauline Tallen, a former member of the House of Representatives Hon. Lumumba Adeh, elder statesman Alhaji Ishyaku Ibrahim, among others.
