The National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh Igwekamma, has formally set the tone for 2026 with the launch of a renewed Capacity Building Seminar series aimed at strengthening the professional, regulatory, and business readiness of community pharmacists nationwide.
The initiative, which begins with a virtual seminar focused on the implications of Nigeria’s new tax law for community pharmacy practice, reflects a deliberate early-year push for knowledge empowerment and policy preparedness under Ezeh’s leadership. It underscores ACPN’s strategic commitment to ensuring that community pharmacists remain responsive to evolving economic realities while upholding high professional standards.
In demonstrating his resolve to drive the programme with competence and depth, Pharm. Ezeh appointed seasoned and capable professionals to steer the inaugural seminar. Pharm. Josephine Ehimen, FPSN, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NETT Pharmacy, was named Chairman of the session in her capacity as Chairman of the ACPN Empowerment and Capacity Building Committee. She is expected to provide strategic oversight and direction for the engagement.
The seminar will feature Pharm. (Mrs.) Mojisola Adebusola Aladesanmi as Guest Speaker, bringing expert insights on fiscal policy, compliance obligations, and the operational implications of the new tax regime for community pharmacy practice. Moderation of the session will be handled by Pharm. (Mrs.) Agboma Esom-Ibe, FPSN, whose role is to ensure robust interaction and practical knowledge exchange among participants.
The capacity-building drive is further strengthened by the support of the National Secretary of ACPN, Pharm. (Mrs.) Omokhafe Mary Ashore, whose consistent administrative and organizational backing continues to enhance the effectiveness of the association’s programmes.
Since assuming office, Pharm. Ezeh has consistently emphasized continuous learning as a critical survival tool for community pharmacists operating in an increasingly regulated and economically complex environment. The 2026 capacity-building series builds on this vision, positioning education, engagement, and policy awareness as central pillars of ACPN’s activities for the year.
Under his stewardship, the monthly seminar series has evolved beyond routine professional meetings into a structured platform for addressing critical regulatory reforms, economic policies, and operational challenges confronting community pharmacy practice. By commencing the year with a focus on taxation and fiscal compliance, ACPN’s leadership has highlighted the importance of equipping pharmacists with practical knowledge that directly impacts business sustainability.
Pharm. Ezeh has repeatedly maintained that community pharmacists must be economically informed as well as clinically competent, noting that government reforms and policy shifts increasingly shape the realities of pharmacy practice at the grassroots level. The 2026 seminar series is therefore designed to help pharmacists anticipate changes, remain compliant, and make informed strategic decisions.
The initiative aligns with ACPN’s broader professional development framework, which mandates regular participation in capacity-building programmes as part of members’ continuous growth and relevance within Nigeria’s healthcare system.
As ACPN opens the year with this knowledge-driven intervention, the leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained member engagement, informed practice, and strengthening the resilience of community pharmacies across the country.
The Capacity Building Seminar series is expected to run throughout 2026, addressing a wide range of regulatory, economic, and professional issues critical to the future of community pharmacy practice in Nigeria.
