Gov. Raji Fashola
The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, says although he has been widely acclaimed for the work he is doing in the state, the job is still half done.
He added that Lagosians could have the opportunity of getting the job completed if they voted into power the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The governor, who spoke during the party’s campaign rally at Surulere on Wednesday, added that the election of the APC candidate as governor would transfer the energy and enable Ambode to reinvest in the future of the state.
Fashola said, “We have been doing good work and even doing the Federal Government’s work. Those at the centre only steal money. Government that loves the people will provide electricity. That is why you must get your Permanent Voter Cards to exercise your rights. They have started sharing it and I have been told that my PVC is ready, but I won’t collect it until you all collect your PVCs.”
In his address at the rally, Ambode promised to deliver 1,140 new roads in all the local government and the local council development areas in the state within his first year in office.
He explained that 20 new roads would be constructed in each of the 57 councils as part of plans to re-create new inner roads, making life more comfortable for the people.
While addressing the crowd that included party faithful; members of the Akinwunmi Ambode Kommittee of Friends; Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; and youths of the party, Ambode said he would create employment fund with zero interest.
He also promised to cater to widows, single parents and the aged in the state.
He said, “We want to continue with the tradition of excellence, good governance and performance started almost 16 years ago. We have plans for the people of Surulere, especially in the areas of tourism, sports and entertainment.”
Also in his remark, Kabir Lawal (Caesar), representing Surulere Constituency I, said the Surulere area had a formidable representation in the person of Desmond Elliot and others in the coming election.
