The Head of the Department of Zoology, University of Ibadan, and Coordinator of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Ibadan Branch, Prof. Aina O. Adeogun, FAS, has commiserated with the MD/CEO of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, over the death of his father, Chief Ogbuefi Clement Ilobanafor.
Chief Ilobanafor, a respected community leader and family patriarch, passed on June 22, 2025, at the age of 93.
In a heartfelt condolence message dated December 23, 2025, Prof. Adeogun described the late nonagenarian as “a rare father and a guiding light,” whose enduring values continue to reflect in the lives of his children.
According to her, African philosophy emphasizes that a child is a direct product of parental upbringing and family values, noting that Prince Ilobanafor’s character and disposition stand as clear testimony to the quality of fatherhood exemplified by the deceased.
“Through your son’s countenance, I can boldly say that you were a good father, a guiding light to your sons and daughters,” she stated.
Prof. Adeogun further noted that the late Chief Ilobanafor lived a life anchored on faith, love, hard work, patience, endurance, honesty and humanity, adding that these virtues have laid an unshakable foundation for his family.
She expressed confidence that the family would remain strong, having been firmly rooted in the values their patriarch lived by, and prayed for a peaceful journey as he answered his Maker’s call.
The university don concluded by offering prayers for God’s comfort and blessings upon the Ilobanafor family, while urging them to take solace in the impactful legacy left behind by their departed father.
