The Vice-Chancellor of Dominican University, Ibadan, Professor Jacinta Opara, has extended heartfelt Christmas and New Year greetings to the university community, parents, partners, and the general public.

In her message, Prof. Opara described the Christmas season as a period of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to service. She said, “Christmas reminds us of the values of love, sacrifice, humility, and hope. It is a season that invites us to pause, reflect on our journey, and recommit ourselves to building a more just, compassionate, and enlightened society.”

Reflecting on the university’s journey in the outgoing year, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to staff, students, and stakeholders for their dedication and resilience. “I commend the Dominican University community for its steadfast commitment to academic excellence, character formation, and the pursuit of truth. Together, we have continued to uphold our mission of nurturing intellectually sound and morally upright graduates,” she stated.

Looking ahead to the New Year, Prof. Opara expressed optimism and encouragement. “As we step into 2026, I urge our students and staff to embrace the year with renewed zeal, discipline, and a spirit of innovation. May the New Year open new doors of opportunity, growth, and impactful scholarship for our institution and all who are part of it.”

She further reflected on the deeper spiritual meaning of the season, noting that Christmas invites humanity to encounter truth, light, and love through the Incarnation. “In the Dominican tradition, rooted in the pursuit of Veritas (Truth), this sacred season calls us to renew our commitment to faith, learning, and service to humanity.

As we enter the New Year 2026, may the light of Christ guide our thoughts, our scholarship, and our actions, inspiring us to build a more just, compassionate, and intellectually vibrant society.”

Prof. Opara concluded by wishing everyone a joyful celebration, saying, “On behalf of the management of Dominican University, Ibadan, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Prosperous New Year 2026, filled with good health, fulfillment, and abundant blessings.”
