ABUJA – The National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL) has condemned in strong terms the circulation of fake news and malicious reports targeted at the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, describing them as baseless and calculated attempts to undermine the Presidency.
The Forum said the false narratives were deliberately sponsored by detractors to discredit the Chief of Staff, distract the administration, and sow discord within the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In a press statement issued on Friday, December 26, 2025, the National Coordinator of the Forum, Rt. Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, said the reports were fruitless efforts by enemies of the All Progressives Congress (APC)–led government to destabilise the Tinubu administration.
According to the statement, the attention of the Forum was drawn to the circulation of false, misleading, and malicious reports aimed at discrediting the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The NFFL said it strongly and unequivocally condemned the spread of fake news, misinformation, and unfounded allegations against Gbajabiamila, noting that such actions were designed to malign his person, distract the Presidency, and undermine effective governance.
The Forum stressed that Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has continued to demonstrate exceptional professionalism, integrity, discipline, and commitment to national service, adding that his leadership and administrative coordination have remained critical to the effective implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NFFL also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the confidence reposed in the Chief of Staff, describing it as a reflection of the President’s commitment to merit, competence, and effective governance.
According to the statement, the President’s trust in Gbajabiamila has strengthened institutional stability within the Presidency and reinforced public confidence in the administration.
While acknowledging that the Presidency has already debunked the reports and described them as malicious and baseless, the Forum warned that the deliberate spread of fake news poses a serious threat to national unity, democratic governance, and public order.
The NFFL cautioned that freedom of expression must be exercised responsibly and must not be abused to spread falsehoods or malign public officials.
Consequently, the Forum disclosed its intention to petition relevant security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible for the dissemination of the fake reports in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
The Forum expressed absolute confidence in the capacity of Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the NFFL and a strong pillar of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu–led administration.
