The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate for Ogun State, Gboyega Isiaka, has said that the February 28, 2015 election will determine the future of the state. He, therefore, urged the electorate to vote for the best candidate. Isiaka, in a statement after he addressed members of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Yewa/Awori zone in Ilaro, warned that unless the administration of Ibikunle Amosun was voted out, the state would face serious economic challenges. He said the “reckless manner” in which the state’s resources were being managed by Amosun is a pointer to this. According to him, contrary to the claim by the government that none of the roads expanded in the state was more than N400m per kilometre, available records showed that Amosun had been paying N1.4bn per kilometre on all the expansions. Isiaka said, “We were at the debate on Sunday in Abeokuta where we confronted him with the facts of how bogus the costs of his contracts have been. He said he has been constructing each kilometre at N400m but none costs less than N1.4bn; he asked us to name one of such projects but we presented him with five.” He also decried “the parlous state of education in Ogun State” and blamed the situation on the Amosun-led administration. He argued that the state of education in the state had gone so bad that secondary schools students had yet to sit for first term examinations. Isiaka assured teachers and civil servants of an end to the hardship they were going through under the current administration.
