The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) on Friday, November 7, 2025, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) as one of the major highlights of the 98th Annual National Conference, tagged DABO 2025, in Kano.

The AGM, a statutory gathering of pharmacists, policymakers, and key stakeholders, provided a platform for reviewing the Society’s activities for the year, assessing progress across the profession, and charting fresh directions for the incoming year.

This year’s meeting brought together an impressive assembly of NEC members, past presidents, members of the Board of Fellows, state chairmen, technical arms, and representatives from various professional bodies—reflecting the unity and diversity of the pharmacy practice community in Nigeria.

The AGM commenced with presentations from the five major technical groups of the PSN — the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA), Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Nigerian Association of Industrial Pharmacists (NAIP), and Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs).

Each technical group gave a detailed account of its activities for the 2024–2025 year, highlighting key achievements, ongoing projects, conferences, summits, advocacy engagements, and interventions targeted at strengthening pharmaceutical practice and contributing to national health outcomes. Delegates also discussed their challenges at various levels and proposed strategies for improvement going forward.

The meeting further featured the presentation of the PSN Office Activity Report, which outlined milestones recorded by the national leadership, including administrative reforms, stakeholder engagements, policy advocacy, and professional development initiatives. Participants actively contributed through comments, questions, and submissions, addressing issues affecting practice across states and proposing actionable steps for the advancement of the sector.

In his remarks, the PSN President, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, commended the technical groups and state branches for their dedication, noting that the collective effort of members has sustained the Society’s progress in the past year.

“This AGM has once again shown the strength and resilience of our profession. Your reports reflect commitment, innovation, and passion for service. The PSN remains steadfast in providing leadership, protecting your interests, and ensuring that pharmacists everywhere continue to deliver quality healthcare to Nigerians,” he said.

After extensive deliberations, the President reassured members of the Society’s readiness to act on the issues raised, strengthen collaboration with regulatory bodies, and intensify engagements with government at all levels.

“Be rest assured that everything you have said here today has been noted. We will follow through. Our responsibility is to ensure that your voices translate into meaningful progress for the profession. Together, we will keep moving pharmacy forward,” he told the attendees.

The AGM also featured product presentations from companies such as AMA Medicals, Drugstoc, Ralphones, and Purna Gummies. These organizations showcased innovative pharmaceutical products, technology solutions, and wellness offerings designed to support practitioners, enhance supply chain efficiency, and improve patient outcomes.

Their presence provided delegates with opportunities for partnership, access to new tools, and exposure to emerging trends in the healthcare market.

The 2025 PSN AGM ended on a positive note, with members expressing renewed confidence in the Society’s leadership and a shared commitment to strengthening the pharmacy profession nationwide.
