President Goodluck Jonathan, in Gombe, on Monday, declared that the youth were key to his administration and in view of that, he would do everything to protect them and secure their future.
The president, who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard-bearer in the February 14 presidential election, stated this while campaigning at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe for re-election.
Jonathan stated that his administration had demonstrated its commitment to the Nigerian youth through its various policies and programmes, saying that he would continue to protect and secure their future.
According to him, if re-elected, he would do his best to provide education to all, as well as meet the basic needs of the youth.
He added that his administration would complete the Dadin Kowa dam electricity project, through which he said 40 megawatts of electricity would be generated to boost power supply in the state, as well as enhance electricity supply in the country.
Addressing the campaign rally, the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, while expressing gratitude to the people of the state for always supporting the umbrella party, called on the people to continue with their support for the party by voting en masse for its candidates from the state to the federal levels, in order to get more dividends of democracy.
On his part, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo called on the people of the state to vote massively for President Jonathan in the presidential election, declaring that the president had done a lot for the state under the current dispensation.
The governor, however, admonished the people of the state to avoid any act of violence before, during and after the election, emphasising that peace was vital to development in the society.
