The House of Representatives has summoned the Provosts of the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan, and the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, over their failure to submit the 2024 and 2025 capital budget proposals as required.
This was contained in a letter dated October 21, 2025, and signed by the Clerk of the House Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, Mr Adelani Sunday.
The Committee expressed dismay that both institutions ignored earlier invitations and failed to appear before it despite prior notifications.
The correspondence, titled “Re: Request for Submission of 2024 and 2025 Capital Budget and Invitation for a Meeting,” emphasized that the Provosts’ appearance and timely submission of the necessary budget documents were vital to determining their 2026 budgetary allocations.
“Part of the letter read: “I am directed to remind you that the Committee has not received your submissions on the subject matter, and you did not appear before the Committee on the day allotted to your agency.
“You are hereby reminded that your appearance and submission of these vital documents are essential for the Committee’s consideration of your institution’s 2026 appropriation.
“You are requested to appear unfailingly before the Committee with your Director of Procurement and Director of Finance.”
The Committee directed the Provosts of both colleges, along with their Directors of Procurement and Finance, to appear before it on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Conference Room 028 of the House of Representatives’ New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
It also cautioned that failure to comply with the summons could jeopardize the inclusion of their institutions’ capital projects in the 2026 budget, stressing the need for full cooperation with legislative oversight and adherence to due process.
