The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has announced that the Leader of the Senate, Senator (Dr.) Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, CON, will serve as the Chairman of the Occasion at its upcoming 98th Annual National Conference, tagged 'DABO 2025', scheduled to hold from November 3–8, 2025, at the Convocation Hall, Bayero University, Kano.

Themed “Pharmacy Forward: Building a Future-Ready Workforce for Performance, Collaboration and Transformation,” the conference is expected to bring together over 5,000 pharmacists, policy-makers, regulators, and healthcare leaders from across Nigeria and beyond to deliberate on the evolving dynamics of healthcare and pharmacy practice.

In a press statement made available to CEOAFRICA, the PSN President, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, described Senator Bamidele as “a man of exceptional integrity, legislative influence, and proven commitment to national development”, noting that his choice reflects the Society’s recognition of the vital role the legislature plays in strengthening Nigeria’s health system.

“Senator Opeyemi Bamidele is a respected national figure whose leadership style and legislative advocacy have consistently supported policies that enhance public health, education, and social equity,” Pharm. Ibrahim said. “We are delighted to have him chair this year’s conference, which aligns perfectly with his long-standing vision for institutional reforms and human capital development in Nigeria.”

The PSN President added that Senator Bamidele’s presence will further underscore the synergy between the health and legislative sectors, particularly in the areas of health financing, pharmaceutical regulation, and youth empowerment.

“This conference isn’t just about pharmacists — it’s about building partnerships that work,” Ibrahim noted. “We believe Senator Bamidele’s chairmanship will inspire meaningful conversations and policy outcomes that can reposition the pharmaceutical sector as a key driver of Nigeria’s economic and healthcare transformation.”

This year’s conference in Kano is expected to set a new benchmark in professional collaboration, innovation, and policy advocacy for the advancement of pharmacy practice in Nigeria.
