The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has announced that its 98th Annual National Conference will hold from November 3 to 8, 2025, at the Convocation Hall, Bayero University, Kano, under the theme “Pharmacy Forward: Building a Future-Ready Workforce for Performance, Collaboration, and Transformation.”
The annual conference, one of the most anticipated gatherings in Nigeria’s healthcare sector, is expected to attract a distinguished array of policy shapers, industry stakeholders, academia, researchers, innovators, hospital and community pharmacists, and regulatory authorities from across the country and beyond.
The Special Guest of Honour will be His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, while the Keynote Speaker is Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, an accomplished scholar from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, and a respected leader in academia and research.
Hosting this landmark event is Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), who emphasized that the 2025 conference will be “a defining moment for the Nigerian pharmacy profession,” particularly in preparing pharmacists for the rapidly evolving global healthcare environment.
“The 98th PSN Annual Conference is more than a gathering—it is a movement toward transformation,” Pharm. Ayuba stated. “This year’s theme reflects our deep commitment to repositioning the Nigerian pharmacy workforce for global competitiveness, improved service delivery, and sustainable health outcomes.”
He further explained that the conference would serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and policy dialogue, aimed at addressing emerging challenges in pharmaceutical practice, innovation, and regulation.
“We are bringing together the brightest minds and most influential voices in the industry to share perspectives on workforce readiness, technological integration, patient-centered care, and interprofessional collaboration,” he added. “This will help pharmacists, both young and seasoned, to embrace innovation, strengthen partnerships, and enhance their relevance in the broader healthcare ecosystem.”
The week-long event will feature plenary sessions, technical workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions, award ceremonies, and social engagements showcasing innovations in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Delegates will also have opportunities to network with global partners, investors, and thought leaders driving transformation in the profession.
The conference will not only celebrate the progress made in pharmacy practice but also chart a new course for the future, where pharmacists play a central role in advancing universal health coverage, public health education, and research-driven healthcare delivery.
According to the PSN President, the choice of Kano State as the host venue is significant, given the state’s long-standing contribution to healthcare development and pharmaceutical advancement in Northern Nigeria. He expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continuous support and commitment to healthcare innovation.
“We are confident that this year’s conference will inspire renewed passion, strengthen collaborations, and open new frontiers for growth within the profession and beyond,” Pharm. Ayuba concluded.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), established in 1927, remains the umbrella professional body for all pharmacists in Nigeria, championing excellence, ethics, and continuous professional development. As it marks its 98th annual national conference, the Society reaffirms its vision to build a vibrant, technology-driven, and globally recognized pharmacy profession that meets the health needs of Nigerians in the 21st century.
With less than a month to go, preparations are in top gear, and all roads are set to lead to Kano State, for what promises to be one of the most engaging, transformative, and impactful PSN conferences in recent history.
