Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), committed a lot of atrocities against politicians while in office as a military head of state, noting that such atrocities will count against him in the forthcoming election.

In particular, he said Buhari allowed the military to get into his head; hence he was going about jailing innocent citizens and politicians.

Jang stated these on Wednesday during the PDP campaign rally in Barkin Ladi, notin: “Buhari humiliated politicians as head of state, I was in the military with him, and those in the military then (including me) know him very well.

“If I were him, I would bow out of the presidential race. The things Buhari did to politicians in the past would haunt him in the present and future.

“Buhari allowed the military to get into his head; he was going about jailing innocent citizens and politicians. And he is still saying he would renovate Kirikiri prisons, for who?

“Now that he is a politician, he should go and taste the prisons in the same manner he sent other politicians to jail while he was a military head of state.

“Our President, Jonathan, is a true democrat and the people of Plateau do not have any problem with him, we will come out and vote massively for him on February 14.”

He reassured President Goodluck Jonathan that his state would vote massively for him and all the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the elections.

Also speaking at the campaign rally, PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Gyang Pwajok, called on the people of the state to come out en masse and vote for the PDP in the forthcoming elections. He assured the people of his readiness to move the state to greater heights if voted into power.

“This election is about the people; we need to come together as one so that we can break the barriers of religion, ethnicity and geography,” he said.

He promised to work with the elders and youths to accelerate the development of the state.

On his part, the Director General of the Gyang  Pwajok governorship campaign organisation, Mr. Daniel Kungmi, said the Plateau people would reject  Buhari at the polls.

Kungmi alleged that Buhari is a selfish politician who does not have the interest of the state at heart, and the people of the state would not support him with their votes.

Speaking earlier, acting chairman of the PDP in the state said there was no factional PDP in the state, calling on the people to disregard those who said they had formed a factional PDP and are trying to reform it.

“Some of these members, we are aware, are romancing with the APC; one of them just recently gave out his campaign office to the APC. And the party would not stay idle and watch their good works being destroyed by desperate politicians.”
