In a commendable effort to promote academic excellence and dispel the narrative that “education is a scam,” Mr. Babatunde Tijani, an alumnus of Abiodun Atiba Memorial Institute, has generously awarded a sum of N1 million to four exceptional students and the dedicated staff of the school. This initiative took place during the institution’s 44th valedictory service and prize-giving day, showcasing Tijani's commitment to fostering educational success.

As the Special Guest of Honour at the event, Tijani announced cash prizes of N200,000 each for the best students in Science, Arts, and Commerce, along with an additional N200,000 for the overall best graduating student. He also recognized the hard work of the school's staff by presenting them with a similar sum as a token of appreciation for their dedication to shaping future leaders.

“Today, I celebrate not only academic excellence but also the memories of my late father, Chief Abdul-Lateef Eyitayo Tijani, who served as vice principal of this great institution from 1981 to 1988,” Tijani stated. “In memory of his contributions, I’m delighted to award N200,000 each to the best students in Science, Arts, and Commerce, as well as to the overall valedictorian. Furthermore, I am honored to recognize the principal and teachers of Abiodun Atiba Memorial Institute with N200,000 for their tireless efforts.”

Represented at the ceremony by his sister, Ms. Omobola Tijani, he urged the graduating class of 2025 to stay focused and committed as they continue their academic journeys. “Congratulations to all of you. As you move forward, remain steadfast and patriotic. The sky is your starting point,” he encouraged.

Tijani expressed his gratitude for the teachers who helped craft his academic and personal development, acknowledging their invaluable mentorship as a pivotal factor in his success. “Your dedication has made a lasting impact on me,” he remarked.

His philanthropic efforts extend beyond cash prizes; Tijani has previously contributed multimillion-naira projects to the school, including the renovation of a six-classroom block, the provision of 240 modern tables and desks, the installation of a modern borehole, and the renovation of the school mosque. Additionally, he has sponsored the TJ BAB’s House during the school’s inter-house sports competition to promote healthy competition among students.

During the event, the school's principal, Mr. Razak Raheem, praised Tijani for his continuous support of the institution's development, particularly in enhancing infrastructure and empowering students. “His impact is consistently felt in our school. May God continue to bless him and enlarge his coast,” Raheem stated.

The principal also acknowledged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for fostering a conducive environment for educators and urged graduating students to focus on their futures by pursuing further education. He admonished them to become good ambassadors of their school and to shun social vices that could derail their paths to success.

The event concluded with the announcement of Memunat Oyetunde as the overall best graduating student, who also clinched the title of the best science student, walking away with a total of N400,000. Faizat Oparemi, the top commercial student, and Jewel Olaoba, the best arts student, each received N200,000 in recognition of their accomplishments.

In her remarks, Oyetunde expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and support, saying, “This award is a great motivation for me to reach even greater heights.”

Through his substantial contributions, Mr. Babatunde Tijani not only celebrated the achievements of the graduates but also reinforced the value of education in shaping the future, affirming that hard work and dedication lead to profound success.
