The National Association of Tertiary Institutions (University, Polytechnic, and College of Education), led by Ambassador Comrade Egunjobi Samuel Oluwaseun, the National President of NANCES, has officially adopted the Geneith Health Competition (GHC). This marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time such an initiative has been embraced by student associations across Nigeria. It is a testament to the vibrancy and determination of our youth to take ownership of their health advocacy efforts.

Expressing solidarity with the initiative, Amb. Comrade Egunjobi Oluwaseun, speaking on behalf of over 40 million Nigerian students, declared, “This is not just a malaria campaign; it is a life-saving mission. Nigerian students are fully behind this. We must fight this disease together.”

With the GHC, young minds are rallying together to champion the critical fight against malaria—a disease that continues to pose a significant public health challenge, affecting countless lives and hindering the potential of our youth. Through this innovative competition, these students are not merely participating; they are actively engaging in creating awareness, educating their peers, and advocating for malaria prevention. Their energy and innovation are vital assets as we collectively strive to eradicate this disease from our communities.

The Geneith Health Competition will feature not only an engaging quiz format but also essential components aimed at fostering health advocacy. Participants will be involved in a nationwide health walk organized across all 36 states, aimed at raising awareness about malaria. This initiative encourages collective action, enabling students to promote health advocacy within their communities.

Moreover, students will be selected from among the 774 local government areas in Nigeria to participate in training workshops that focus on malaria prevention strategies. These workshops will equip young participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively advocate for health improvement initiatives.

In essence, the GHC is more than just a competition; it is a platform for Nigeria's youth to develop leadership skills, innovate, and significantly contribute to the fight against malaria. The initiative empowers the next generation to become champions for health, instilling a sense of responsibility towards their communities.

As Nigeria's students come together under the banner of the Geneith Health Competition, we are confident that their efforts will bring about significant and positive change in health advocacy and malaria prevention.
