The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri said on Sunday that the 24-hour curfew imposed on Maiduguri would be lifted on Monday morning.

Sani Usman, the spokesperson of the division, stated this in a statement in Maiduguri.

Mr. Usman, a colonel, said residents of Maiduguri were free to go about their business as from 6 a.m. on Monday.

“Please be informed that the curfew will last till 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

“Therefore, people can go about their legitimate businesses as from 6 a.m. in the morning,” it said.

PREIUM TIMES had reported how the curfew was imposed after suspected Boko Haram members tried to invade the Borno capital. Scores of people including soldiers and insurgents are believed to have been killed as the military repelled the attack.

Mr. Usman was silent on the casualty of the Maiduguri attack as well as others in neighbouring Monguno and Konduga.
