The Labour Party has disowned its Board of Trustees’ Chairman, Chief Dan Iwuanyanwu, for his statement that the party has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as the LP candidate for the February 14 election.

The LP also berated Iwuanyanwu for stating that the party was in support of the postponement of the scheduled elections.

The National Chairman of the party, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, while addressing journalists in Akure, on Saturday, stated that the party had not taken any position on the two issues.

Abdulsalam, who was supported by the party’s National Secretary, Mr. Kayode Ajulo, at the briefing, said the two issues were very complicated and critical and no one could just take a decision on them without an extensive discussion within the party hierarchy.

He said, “The issue of altering the scheduled elections is delicate, critical and a complicated one that somebody cannot just comment about without regard to the party’s hierarchy and processes.”
