We have 66 days in counting down to the 44th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), as the day approaches it is fitting to honor His Eminence, Cardinal Francis Arinze, a distinguished figure originally from Eziowelle, Anambra State. Cardinal Arinze was created a cardinal in 1985 and was named the cardinal bishop of Velletri-Segni in 2005.
Throughout his illustrious career, Cardinal Arinze has played a significant role within the Catholic Church, serving as one of the principal advisors to Pope John Paul II. His influence in the church was further solidified when he was considered papabile during the papal conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI in 2005. As one of the last surviving prelates who participated in the Second Vatican Council, his contributions to ecumenical dialogue and reform in the Catholic Church are both notable and impactful.
Cardinal Arinze's dedication to interfaith dialogue and his commitment to global peace have made him a respected figure both within the Church and internationally. He served as the Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, where he worked to promote liturgical renewal and ensure the adherence to sacramental norms.
As we prepare for "IFEADIGO 2025," scheduled to take place from July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, Anambra, the conference theme, “Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice,” emphasizes innovation and the enhancement of healthcare delivery. This event aims to foster insightful discussions and collaborations among healthcare professionals, just as Cardinal Arinze has fostered dialogue across cultural and religious lines.
