Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), has emphasized the critical need for greater support in local drug manufacturing during his remarks at the launch of the Geneith Health Competition. Commending the initiative as part of corporate social responsibility, he stated, “I will commend CEOAFRICA and Geneith Pharmaceuticals for organizing this event. I attend this kind of gathering as a form of encouragement.”
Ibrahim underscored the importance of creating an enabling environment for local pharmaceutical businesses, noting, “Most of our fight is for them to have an enabling environment to carry out their activities so that we will have drug security in Nigeria. The more we manufacture drugs, the more available they are, and the cheaper they become.”
He urged the industry stakeholders to rally behind efforts that bolster local production, asserting, “We need to back efforts that strengthen local production. It will make essential medicines more accessible and affordable.” Ibrahim's advocacy highlights the significance of enhancing local manufacturing capabilities as a way to improve health outcomes and ensure that essential medications remain within reach for all Nigerians.
Continuing with his address, he encouraged Geneith Pharmaceuticals to enhance its manufacturing activities and to communicate any challenges they may face. “Let us know where you have challenges so that we can reach out to the government, do advocacy, and get it done,” he remarked.
Pharm. Ibrahim’s endorsement of the Geneith Health Competition aligns with his vision for a stronger pharmaceutical sector in Nigeria. By promoting local manufacturing and innovative solutions, he seeks to empower the next generation of healthcare leaders and improve access to vital medications across the country.
Through initiatives like the Geneith Health Competition, the PSN President envisions a brighter future for Nigeria, where local production is prioritized, and pharmaceutical security is achieved, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for all citizens.
