Oyo State Commander of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Barr Josephine Obi, has urged Nigerians to join hands with the agency to kick out substance abuse in their environment in order to have a country that is drug-free.

The State Commander gave this remark on Monday in her Easter greetings to Christians, which was titled: “Let us all join hands to kick out SUBSTANCE ABUSE from our homes and communities”, and was made available to CEOAFRICA.

Obi, in her statement, also called on the good people of Oyo State to celebrate the resurrection of Christ while bearing in mind the symbolic role this season plays in the life of every Christian.

According to her, “Easter is a season of joy. So I encourage everyone to embrace the joy that comes with the season.”

The commandant cautioned members of the public against any incriminating behavior under the guise of celebration, adding that the law does not care whether “you are celebrating or not,” as there is no excuse for misbehaviour.

She further urged Nigerians to join the agency in the fight against the menace of drug abuse and drug trafficking, stressing that the collective fight against illicit drugs and/or drug abuse in Nigeria will help to curb the rate of criminality in the country.
