You can be Chartered Accountant before graduation – ICAN President charges Chrisland University’s students

The President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dame Onome Adewuyi, has charged Chrisland University’s Accounting students to take interest in ICAN Certification before they graduate, adding that the certification will enable them become Chartered accountants before graduation, and employers of labour after graduation.

Adewuyi said this on Friday during her visit with a team of the institute to Chrisland University.

The courtesy visit of members of ICAN, led by the President and Vice President Mrs. Comfort Eyitayo, FCA, was received by the Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. (Mrs.) Chinedum Peace Babalola at the University Senate Chamber.

The ICAN President, Adewuyi, who appreciated the VC’s reception, disclosed that “the visit was to lay foundation for cordial working relationship, initiative and partnership between Chrisland University and ICAN.

She pledged that the Institute, ICAN, “is ready to work with Chrisland University to achieve its vision of becoming a world-class University.”

“Lecturers who are ICAN members would get grants for research if their proposal is acceptable by the Institute,” she added.

Adewuyi further disclosed that the institute has launched a new syllabus for its professional examination which will take effect from March 2021.

In her welcome remark, the Vice Chancellor Babalola, lauded the ICAN team for the on-site visit, stating that ICAN team had earlier assigned some professionals to visit the Department of Accounting for accreditation of ICAN programme and certification.

She acknowledged the team sense of sincerity during its assessment on personnel, students, classrooms, University Library, Accounting Laboratory, Departmental Library, conveniences, and facilities available at the learning institution.

The erudite Professor stressed that one of her major goals during her assumption of duty in Chrisland University was to graduate students with more than one certificate, adding that the professional accreditation of ICAN in Chrisland University would enable the students to have license to practice.

The Vice Chancellor, at the end of the meeting, presented a token of appreciation on behalf of Chrisland University Community to the ICAN team.

The ICAN team also donated some Accounting Textbooks to the department of Accounting, stating that it is a step towards successful partnership with Chrisland University.

The ICAN Team, alongside the Vice-Chancellor proceeded to the University Auditorium to meet with students of Accounting Department.

While addressing the students, Adewuyi revealed that obtaining an ICAN certification would open door to a vast range of exciting career opportunities, in every sector of business and finance, both in Nigeria and international.
