The Management of Chrisland University has announced 31st January and 7th February, 2021 as the dates for physical resumption of students for the continuation of the first semester, 2020/2021 academic session.

Recall that  Chrisland University on January 11th commenced its first semester academic activities on virtual platform, making it the first institution to commence academic activities in Nigeria amidst COVID-19 second wave, with the aid of its HP- Classera- a technology-initiative developed for the institution to complete a successful second semester of the 2019/2020 academic session.

Earlier this year, the institution commissioned fully automated hand-washing stations, temperature checkers, infrared soap and hand sanitizer dispensers as part of its effort towards curbing COVID-19 pandemic. It has also produced alcohol based sanitizers and sprays.

CEOAFRICA gathered that the decision for physical resumption was taken after the Management’s joint meeting held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

The management in a released statement said final year students, Accounting students, 100 level students, and all JUPEB students are to resume physically on Sunday, 31st of January, while 300 level students and all 200 level students are to resume on Sunday, 7th of February, 2021.

The reason for the splitting of the date was to reduce the number of students on campus and be able to curtail the spread of COVID-19 second wave.

The Management has ordered the students to undergo compulsory COVID-19 test at the school clinic for the cost of N5000, adding that the students are mandated to always put on their face mask while on campus.

Also, regular hands washing and sanitizing of hands are compulsory for the students, as the automated washing machines have been positioned at vital areas in the institution such as the Main Gate, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Male Hostel, Female Hostel, Academic Block, Health Center, University Auditorium, and the Cafeteria. The aim of this is to drastically mitigate the risk of contracting the raging COVID-19 Pandemic on campus.

However, the University’s Management affirmed that the process of learning would be both virtual and physical, thereby urging all the students to get a Windows 10 laptop and ensure they come with it.

All students, therefore, are also advised to come with evidence of having paid the school’s minimum fee required, otherwise, would not be allowed into the campus.

On a final note, all students will be subjected to body and luggage search by Officers of the NDLEA and Campus Security before proceeding into their different hostels.
