On the 70th Birthday of the Iyalode of Egbaland, Oke-Ona and Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson, the Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola (FAS) joined millions of well wishers to celebrate the female icon.

The 70th birthday which took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta was graced by different big wigs such as the Governor of Ogun State, who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the state, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele; the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and prominent Royal Fathers including Ooni of Ife (represented), Alaafin of oyo (represented), Alake of Egbaland (represented) and the Osile of Oke-Ona Egbaland, Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso.

Iyalode Alaba Lawson was tagged as a multi-talented visionary person who has made immense contributions to educational and socio-economic development of Nigeria.

She is a guru in business, the first female President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and the Chairman of the Board of the Governing Council, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State.

Chief Lawson is also the President pro-tempore of the Forum of Female Traditional Rulers in Nigeria.

Iyalode Lawson is one of those to first establish private schools in Abeokuta, Nigeria in 1977 same year Chrisland schools was founded.

Other event that took place at the birthday ceremony was the launching of two books by Chrisland University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, on behalf of High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Winifred Adefolahan Awosika, OON, the Chancellor and chairman board of trustees of Chrisland University.
