COVID-19 Second Wave : Chrisland University commences academic activities online

 In its efforts to keep the flag of its academic excellence flying, Chrisland University has taken the lead by resuming fully its 2020/2021 academic session online.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Babalola, made this known in her welcome address which was monitored online by CEOAFRICA on Tuesday

Babalola disclosed that Chrisland University began its academic activities online on Monday, January 11 amidst second wave of COVID-19 which poses risk of reopening for other Nigeria’s universities.

Babalola said, “The commencement of the online classes was indeed successful and encouraging.”

In her welcome address, the VC stated that “The Management welcomes the teaching staffs, students and the non-teaching members to a new academic session of the university.

“We are fully aware of the second spike of COVID-19. So we urge every concerned members to comply strictly to COVID-19 guidelines of face-mask wearing, washing of hands and physical distancing.

“Necessary provisions to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the institution have been provided by the management,” she said.

It is also disclosed that admission into the institution for 2020/2021 academic session is in progress.

“Prospective students who seek admission to a university that has a conducive and serene environment, qualified and friendly lecturers, modern and updated facilities in both laboratories and library and comfortable, home-away-from-home hostels for male and female should then consider Chrisland University; it has all you need to achieve excellence all rounds,” the VC noted.

Courses offered in the university include: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Biochemistry, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Computer Science, Criminology and Security Studies, Economics, English Language, History and International Studies, Industrial Chemistry, International Relations, Literature in English, Mass Communication, Mathematics, Industrial Mathematics, Statistics,  Microbiology, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Biotechnology, Cybersecurity, Physics with Electronics, Nursing, Anatomy, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Science and Physiology.

It is worthy of note that graduates of Chrisland institution go home with two certificates. A certificate in any of the programme studied and a certificate in an entrepreneurial skill acquired are awarded at the end of a successful programme.  

In an interview with CEOAFRICA the VC Prof Babalola said the university has a tradition of academic excellence, to keep this , the academic calendar must always be maintained.

‘In Chrisland, we have a culture of academic excellence, to maintain this, we must ensure we keep to our academic calendar. In this University we have international students, so we must keep to our goal of being one of the best Universities in Africa.

Prof Babalola used the opportunity to call on prospective students in Africa and in diaspora to take advantage of academic excellence, Chrisland University is offering to ignite their future.

Recall that CEOAFRICA reported Chrisland University as one of the Nigerian Universities to kick start online classes for its students through its HP- Classera, during the last lockdown ordered by the Federal Government on March 29th, 2020.

Chrisland University saw the lockdown as a blessing in disguise to set a pace in the Academic sector through the use of a Learning Management System (LMS) and its HP-Classera to successfully complete a semester academic calendar, thereby commence another undisrupted academic session online.
