A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja has granted the bail of N20m to Sahara Reporters’ Publisher and group leader of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, and a bail of N1m each to other four activists that were arrested with him.

Chief Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello, ruling on the bail application on Monday filed Sowore a bail of N20million and two sureties.

He added that Sowore should remain in Abuja and must physically report to the court registrar every Monday and Friday pending the hearing and determination of the case against him.

The court also ordered that one of his sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 12.

Recall that Omoyele Sowore, Juwon Sanyaolu, Peter Williams, Emmanuel Bulus, and Damilare Adenola were arrested by the Nigerian Police Force on New Year’s in Abuja for organising a protest against bad governance in the country.

Sowore and the other 4 activists are accused of ‘unlawful assembly, criminal conspiracy, and inciting public disturbance.’
