Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has said the military and the state police need better ammunitions to battle insecurity and other criminalities in the country.

He said this on Sunday at the state Christian service in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at St. Benedict Military Catholic Church, Owena Cantonment of Nigerian Army, Ondo Road, Akure.

Akeredolu revealed that multi-level policing system and modern equipment for the Nigerian Military are needed to help in the fight against insurgents and other criminal elements in the country, adding that the issue of state police has become more necessary than ever.

The Governor commended the Nigerian Military counter-terrorism efforts in fighting against insurgency in the country, and also appreciated the military for their supports and commitments in securing the sate and confronting the criminals who are disturbing the peace of the state.

He, however, charged the security agencies in the state to work together in order to achieve a better result and abate crimes in the state and country at large.

“Apart from prayers, as individuals, we should empathise with the widows and dependants of our fallen heroes. One major way of doing this is to donate generously to ‘emblem appeal fund’ by buying these emblems.

“For the benefit of doubt, let me emphasise that proceeds of the ‘Emblem Appeal’ is for the Nigerian Legion for the welfare of the ex-servicemen and the dependants of the fallen heroes,” he added.

In his remarks, the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Bridage, Brigadier Gen. ZL Abubakar, appreciated the commitment of Governor Akeredolu to the 32 artillery brigade, soldiers, widows and dependents of the fallen heroes, stating that the command recognized and valued the continued supports and encouragement of the Governor.

He, thereby, implored the Governor not to be tired of supporting the military.
