Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has warned the South-West Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, not to form themselves into another Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said the Amotekun Corps must be trained in ethical ways to prevent themselves from being unruly and fierce to the people they have called to protect.

While appearing on Arise TV programme, he stated “I have told them anytime you want us to come and assist, we will come even if it is just on the ethical session and as you are training them to defend us, we are also training their minds so that Amotekun does not become another SARS, very important. We must do everything together.”

Soyinka also urged the South-West states that are yet to inaugurate their Amotekun Corps to do launch them out quickly as the challenge of insecurity has reached a “stage of desperation.”
