The outgoing U.S President, Donald Trump, has said that the group of people that stormed the Capitol and caused violence during the congressional joint sitting will not go scot-free.
Trump said, he was ‘outraged by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem’ demonstrated by a group of his supporters that went ahead to cause violence with the aim to disturb the Congress’ sitting in certifying Joe-Biden as the President-elect of the country, U.S.
He noted that the demonstrators “defiled the seat of democracy. To those who broke the law, you will pay. ”
“Now Congress has certified the results, a new administration will be inaugurated on January 20.
“My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power,” he added.
Trump further stated that “wonderful supporters, I know you are disappointed but I also want you to know that our incredible journey is only just beginning.”
