International Women Swimming Championship: Chief Mrs Nana Okuribido seeks partnership, collaboration as competition draws near

Chief Mrs Anita Nana Okuribido, the President of the Women in Renewable Energy Association in Nigeria and the Coordinator, Women Empowerment for the 2021 International Women Swimming Championship and Rural Empowerment has called on stakeholders and government at all levels to partner and collaborate with the officials in other to actualize the aims and objectives of the championship.

She disclosed this in an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA at the official unveiling and presentation of trophy for the maiden International Swimming Competition, held at the Conference Hallof the African First Ladies Peace Mission in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Thursday, 26th November 2020.

Reacting to a question on what is to follow the unveiling of the trophy, Mrs. Nana said the next action is to seek for collaborations and support from all strata so as to make the event a memorable and remarkable one.

“We have our supporters, our collaborators and our partners in this program. The next thing is to get all what we need to get together, all the necessary documents we need to gather so that we can have funds, so that we can empower Nigeria women and girls.

While we are preparing for the next stage, we are going to empower community base organizations in the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria, and we would make sure they women/girls are involved through this assessment,” she added.

Mrs. Okuribido reiterated that the championship is designed to boost the support base needed to provide requisite economic skills, among others, to young girls and vulnerable women in rural communities.

She, however, stressed that partnership remain key towards promoting social developmental goals of human sustainability for better livelihood among women, saying, “For us to achieve our goals and as far as the championship is concern, we need collaborations, partnerships from all strata.”

According to her, the championship is to honor the achievements of the President’s wife in championing the cause of vulnerable women in the country through various socioeconomic development and empowerment programs.
