IAR&T Executive Director, Prof Veronica lauds FG’s move in ensuring food security, Agricultural productivity in Nigeria

The First Female Executive Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Moore Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Mrs.Veronica Adeoti Obatolu has hailed the efforts of the Federal government in ensuring food security and Agricultural productivity in Nigeria by seeking the collaboration of stakeholders in the Agriculture sector.

She made the commendation in an Exclusive Interview with CEOAFRICA at a retreat organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for Chief Executive Officers and Chairmen of Governing Boards of Parastatals/Agencies in the Ministry of Agriculture in Nigeria which was held  at Chida International Hotel, Abuja on Thursday, 18th 2020.

According to her, the retreat aims at revisiting existing synergy and strengthening collaboration in developing the agriculture sector of the Nigerian economy.

The focus of the event was “Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture”.

The keynote address was delivered by the Honorable Minister, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alh. MohammeAnchord Sabo Nanono.

Other prominent personalities present include the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. AbdulkadirMy’azu; Hon. Minister of State, Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alh. Mustapha Shehuri, among others.

Prof. Obatolu said the coming together of stakeholders in the Agriculture sector is to address the challenges faced in the sector, most especially issues facing Agricultural Institutions.

She also commended the leadership and teamwork session, which she described as impactful. “It is very impactful, especially with the first two lectures on leadership and teamwork.”

Further describing the session, she said “The importance of leadership within the team work and also some of the challenges and the modality is that we can really interact on how we can get to the mMnistry, how the Ministry can assist and how we can also be able to contribute to the general goal of the Ministry.”
